Hyderabad: The State government has decided to do away with the detention system for the conventional degree courses offered by various universities, this time. This means irrespective of the examinations result, the first-year students will be promoted to second-year, and second-year students will be sent to third-year. They need to clear the backlogs in the next year. However, this provision is not applicable for the final year students. They need to clear all the examinations to qualify for the degree.
